Today, Pulitzer day, you get to be an editor.
Here we have
my column from Sunday
, in which I write limericks about computers and technology. The question for today, hotly disputed by me and my editor, Tom the Butcher, is whether the column should have included this limerick:
A handsome Web tech named McKown
Also worked as a waiter in town.
He was quick to pick up
A dropped fork or a cup
(Ladies liked when the server went down.)
Should this limerick have been in the column?
Yes. It's good and it’s not too suggestive to publish.
No. It's good, but it's too suggestive to publish.
No, it's not good enough to publish. Whether it's tasteful is therefore irrelevant.
I'm not sure.
