Western Australian Freshwater Angling Survey

1.The Western Australian government has funded and supported ‘put and take’ fisheries for 50 years because they play an important economic and social role in the regions.
The Trout Hatchery at the Pemberton Freshwater Research Centre is operated by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and each year releases trout into freshwater systems across the South West.  Since 2010, the State has funded the TAFE in Broome and community groups to stock barramundi into Lake Kununurra.  These fisheries are used by over 10,000 Western Australian recreational fishers each year.
Planning for future investment in fish breeding and release programs requires an in depth understanding of freshwater angling activities and their economic value. Information provided by fishers through the survey will assist DPIRD make better investment decisions in the future to support freshwater angling.
This survey research is funded though Royalties for Regions and being undertaken by Dr Paul McLeod of Economic Research Associates and Andrew Beer of DPIRD.

Part 4 asks for some background demographic information.
Part 5 asks for some information on your likely responses if the various costs of going fishing were to change.
