95. Here is something memorable an eye doctor has said to me (optional) We would like to hear about the most helpful, and the least helpful things that have been said to you during your appointments. Examples of helpful things: They may have given you an encouraging word or a practical suggestion, or a clarification about your diagnosis, or told you about a resource. They may have given you a diagnosis that previous doctors missed, or introduced a treatment that was new to you, or given you a great practical tip. Tell us the the high points! Examples of unhelpful things: Maybe they told you to do something without explaining how; insisted on a treatment you have a history of intolerance for; used specific words or making statements that you found discouraging (e.g. "this is a chronic condition", "you'll probably have to be on ___ drug permanently," "antidepressants may make your dry eye worse," "there's nothing really I can do"). Reminder: Please do not identify any individual doctors, providers or medical facilities.
| 02/28/2021 | 102532371 | There’s nothing i can really do for you When asked about dry eye products: “you are probably more up to date than me” You can’t have sjogren’s if you don’t have positive ssa or ssb. Just trying drinking more water. I will not see you again as i only see sjogren’s patients I asked if they were familiar with sjogren’s (corneal specialist). Sjogren’s is not relevant. You have sicca. The least trained doctor, an optometrist has been the most helpful for dry eye. Bringing many suggestions and trying to get at cause. |
| 02/28/2021 | 102520970 | The ophthamologist I see yearly for overall eye health and correction prescription was the first to diagnose my dry eye. She tried several things, but always seemed in a hurry and eventually ran out of options when things we tried weren't helping or introduced complications. Some of her statements were unhelpful, like "This is a chronic condition" and "It's caused by the RK scars." I then sought out an specialist for dry eyes. He takes time with me, listens well, and is very sympathetic. He has helped me the most, but I feel we still have a ways to go specifically in getting my blepharitis under control. Probably the most helpful thing he said was that I should stop using Restasis because it obviously wasn't helping. He has also given me his opinion when asked about new therapies, saying that if there are no evidence-based. documented results, it might not be worth my money. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102386923 | It has taken too long to get to where I am now, and the process is disjointed. I need cataract surgery, and I have no idea when that can happen. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102346880 | So many helpful things-2 examples: *use of eye wash solution to get rid of eye ointment used at night, before I tried this I had blurry vision for 3-4 hours when I woke up *use of EyeLocc |
| 02/25/2021 | 102279590 | Helpful: My most recent eye doctor told me that many eye doctors shy away from prescribing helpful dry eye treatments because they don't want their office to have to fight the insurance company to get it covered. This doctor also used a stem-cell therapy that I didn't know existed and helped with my corneal scarring. I was also finally prescribed scleral contacts, which I had been trying to get for years. Unhelpful: I've heard a lot of 'just keep using eyedrops' and 'there's nothing I can really do'. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102226919 | He said, if you aren't going to the the Restasis then let's talk about the list of options. I said, yes, options. It costs me $600/month and burns so bad that after the hour my eye is shut then I have to do the other eye. Not happening. So, he starts with a humidifier but you will have to clean and with bleach every day. The home one he said, once a week is fine. try the tea bags, get the best Fish oil and Flaxseed you can find and later my primary doctor added the Lutein/Bilberry. After two months back to the Eye doctor - I said, OK I did it all plus I take Mila regularly. He was surprised - you did it all. I said, yes, if you can treat me from the Health Food Store I am all in. I love my eye doctor - He is the Ophthalmologist for an NBA team and one of the top 10 recognized in the USA. He has been my doctor for over 22 years. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102193890 | My doctor advised sclera lenses five months ago so I am still in the "will this treatment help me" stage. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102186447 | Always fairly encouraging but at times not interested |
| 02/23/2021 | 101889717 | Ointment can't possibly cause you discomfort; it's just petrolatum! |
| 02/21/2021 | 101638063 | I found a doctor who himself had RK and he and I talk about our mistake of the RK and now "what do we do". I try out everything that he suggests since he has it as well. |
