| 02/28/2021 | 102532371 | Dry eye specialist does not look for cause. Suggest scleral and lacrisert. When asked if scleral will help overnight corneal erosions as they are only worn during the day she says she does not know. |
| 02/28/2021 | 102520970 | My scleral lens fitter worked tirelessly with me to get a good fit and did her own research on the side. I appreciate her. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102386923 | I supposedly have world class experts on the case. It sure does not seem like that. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102346880 | Important to find a specialist in dry eye. Earlier in the course of my problems, I visited two general ophthalmologists and was not asked about ocular allergies. Also I specifically asked one of these doctors about Restasis and he said it would not be appropriate and would sting. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102268374 | I have an optometrist that I've worked with for 2 years and a new corneal specialist that I saw for the first time in December. I answered the questions about preparing for an appointment and what usually happens at an appointment about both of them. I answered the questions about how I felt during or after the appointment and how I feel about my optometrist, who I am not comfortable with. She is, however, an excellent optometrist and an excellent scleral fitter, which is why I've stayed with her. She has guilted me because I had so many fit issues with my first lenses, even though she tried a lot of things to make it better, but there was a very clear line beyond which she made it clear that she was done with me unless I started paying for visits outside of the global period, and this was after she took a months vacation DURING MY GLOBAL PERIOD! She seems irritated that I research things online, that I participate in the Facebook scleral group, and that I ask questions. I tried expressing my feelings about this last fall and her response was that I was the one with a problem, that she heard that I had made a comment about a particular visit taking so long even though she was, apparently, spending extra time with me even when it meant that he had to move to another patient but then come back to me. Part of the issue is that she never communicated that to me and blaming me for this well afterward, when there was no information at the time about the perceived slight or when it occurred felt extremely manipulative to me, and downright passive aggressive. I never feel comfortable talking to her and I always feel like I'm walking on egg shells, much like the abusive home that I grew up in. Because of this I contacted BostonSight to explore the possibility of PROSE and a different optometrist. Ironically, my insurance approved me for PROSE at Duke, which is out of network for me and the only PROSE fitting location in my state. My PROSE fitting is in two weeks and, ironically, I will end up with 2 new sets of lenses and, possibly, a new optometrist that I'm more happy with. Even though my current optometrist is excellent at what she does, sans the bedside manner, she had never diagnosed my map dot fingerprint dystrophy, which is puzzling to me. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102226919 | I think the best thing is to be honest and don't hold back. I tell him what and what I won't do and we have had to come to center. |
| 02/23/2021 | 101889717 | I hate going to a clinic where I have to tell my story to an assistant, (who isn't qualified to deal with complex eye issues) and then seeing the actual doctor for only three minutes or so. I have received so much conflicting information that it makes it difficult for me to trust any doctor. So many of the treatments have caused additional pain and were expensive. Some treatments were extremely painful. Most treatments didn't help at all. I feel that doctors don't examine my eyes carefully enough. |
| 02/21/2021 | 101638063 | My fear is that my doctor will retire and a younger person without his experience or knowledge will take over. Then I feel stuck. |
| 02/21/2021 | 101603311 | Make sure that your needs are being met. I went to someone who I thought was a great doctor and always looking for new methods to treat my dry eyes. Then once when my regular ophthalmologist was not available, I went to another doctor in the same practice who looked at my eyes and referred me to a dry eye specialist in the same practice. This specialist was able to find much better ways to deal with my eyes. |
| 02/20/2021 | 101579517 | I also have probably the best OD in the us. Alas he is getting to retirement age |
