72. I would like to share more about my experiences with PROSE, scleral lenses and other specialty contacts
| 02/28/2021 | 102520970 | They are helping a lot with dryness of the cornea (while in), but my eyelids are often irritated and my eyes sting and burn. Some days are worse than others. I am trying to isolate reasons for this. It seems complex. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102396780 | Without them I would not be able to keep my eyes open for any meaningful length of time. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102372480 | I am in the process of trying to determine what scleral will work for me. I have tried 18 mm lenses but have had problems with inserting, bubbles, pain. This week my doctor has ordered 15mm lenses. When I tried them in the office, they were easier to insert. |
| 02/26/2021 | 102366559 | Tried scleral lenses two years ago. The helped significantly in terms of overall comfort, however, mucous build-up more problematic with sclerals due to 1) difficulty in removing and re-inserting while not at home, and 2) inability to adjust/slide lenses around to move mucous out of central vision area. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102279590 | Scleral lenses help quite a bit, but removing them irritates my eyes and I end up with discomfort, redness, and/or pain after use. |
| 02/25/2021 | 102268374 | I've worn monovisaon Jupiter sclerals (without Hydra-PEG) for a year and a half and just got a new pair this week (with Hydra-PEG), and was also just approved for PROSE through my health insurance. Sclerals have helped my dry eye issues more than anything else but I've never gotten used to monovision, specifically the weird depth perception issue. This, plus occasional fogging and foreign body sensation have caused me not to wear them for long periods of time, just because dealing with them feels like a chore. However, the new lenses are much better in terms of my monovision issues so I find that I want to wear them. They're too new to know if the Hydra-PEG coating will help with the other issues. My left eye was the hardest to get comfortable because my corneal scarring and Salzmann's nodules are much worse in the left eye, and I felt the lateral edge of the 6 or 7 lenses I tried during the fitting process–until the last one which worked. Because I have less scarring in the right eye my map dot fingerprint dystrophy is worse in that eye. |
| 02/23/2021 | 101903975 | The sclerals I was fitted for were horribly uncomfortable |
| 02/23/2021 | 101889717 | The "bandage" lens irritated the raised red "scar tissue/muscle" I have in the sclera of my left eye. So it made my eye look blood red. I would like to try scleral lenses and think they would help a lot, but cannot afford them at this time. |
| 02/21/2021 | 101638063 | I have only had hard contacts. My eyes are too sensitive to put anything in them now. |
| 02/21/2021 | 101630648 | I did a trial period of scleral lenses and was very disappointed. I was using as many OTC drops as before. I decide it was not the end-all-be-all solution to my symptoms. |
